The map types the game builds procedurally when you start a new game — not the hand-authored preset scenario maps. Each script below lists the generation knobs it exposes (player start, tribes, terrain, water). Scripts with no options generate a fixed layout. Previews are real sample generations (three seeds each) at default options — 6-player Medium maps, or the intended 1v1 Duel size for duel scripts — showing terrain, rivers, resources, city sites (pink dots) and player capitals (stars).
A large stretch of water containing many islands.
A region deep inland, behind a mountain range, where little rain falls. Balanced to support two teams in multi-player games.
A temperate coastal map, with a large area of shallow sea in the middle.
A coastal region bordered by a mountain range, which catches rain and creates a fertile band near the mountains. Balanced to support two teams in multi-player games.
A small continent, guaranteed to be circumnavigable within the map boundary.
A vast and open terrain, where small areas of temperate land are separated by large areas of open desert.
Fertile land with deserts that expand over time.
A series of channels extend radially from the center, dividing a land map into separate regions. Balanced to support either teams or free-for-all in multi-player games.
A small continent, on the scale of Australia, that contains an inland sea. Guaranteed to be circumnavigable within the map boundary.
A series of islands in a sea that slowly recedes from coastlines. There are no water resources on this map, but some new resources will appear on dried up ocean Tiles.
Land whose northern half is covered with a dense hardwood forest. South of the leafy trees lies a band of lush terrain. Rains come from the west, but there are also seas to north and south.
Inland map with numerous mountain ranges surrounding areas of elevated flat terrain.
Land that completely surrounds a sea or group of seas. Balanced to support free-for-all in multi-player games.
Multiple relatively small bodies of water, surrounded by land.
A diverse landscape of coastal plains, mountainous regions, and islands, surrounding a nearly landlocked sea.
Two or Three Continents.
A cold oceanic region containing numerous islands, large and small, bordered by a continent to the south. Resources on the continent are depleted (fewer resources per City). An adventure map intended for single player games, with larger dimensions to compensate for a lower percentage of habitable Tiles.
A barren desert that becomes more temperate and acquires resources over time.
A region bordered by or containing large seas, gulfs, or bays, offering a substantial amount of coastline. Inspired by the Middle East but with a generally milder climate.
A series of land regions separated by impassable mountains. After a specified number of turns, the mountains flatten to hills and become passable. Balanced to support either teams or free-for-all in multi-player games.
Constrained scripts for duels and symmetric starts.
Designed for duels, this map places players at diagonally opposite corners. Narrow paths through difficult terrain create natural chokepoints.
One island per player. All islands are approximately the same size.
